NBA hire UKC for slam dunk social media campaign

UKC Company (formerly known as Language) has been commissioned by PR agency Tree Communications to deliver a social media campaign to promote the forthcoming NBA Global Games in Manchester.

The competition will see basketball teams Oklahoma City Thunder and Philadelphia 76ers go head-to-head at the Phones 4U arena.

UKC have been tasked with raising awareness of the match to the Chinese community in Manchester and across the wider UK. The agency will devise a Chinese social media strategy which will focus on Weibo, China’s equivalent to Twitter, and the messaging service QQ. They will then lead on implementation of the strategy through their team of in-house Chinese social media experts.

Ben Hui, MD of UKC Company, said:

“The Chinese community in the UK consists of high numbers of international students and tourists from mainland China, in addition to British Chinese. This is a substantially sized community, but often Chinese consumers are ignored. The NBA is a popular brand amongst Chinese people so using Weibo marketing to reach them is an obvious choice. We’re looking forward to demonstrating how to attract Chinese consumers using these exciting platforms.”
