UKC to launch UK’s first
Chinese International Student
Accommodation Survey

Following extensive research, in which over 1,000 interviews were conducted across eight selected UK cities, UKC Company (formerly known as Language) has issued the UK’s first report detailing the accommodation requirements of Chinese international students.

With 87,790 Chinese international students currently residing in the UK, accounting for 1 out of every 3 international students in the country, this segment represents a significant opportunity for accommodation providers. However, to date, little market intelligence existed on how such students select their property.

The 2014 Chinese International Student Accommodation Survey has been produced in order to provide student property developers, private landlords and property agents with a comprehensive insight into not only the factors and pricing thresholds that influence buying decisions, but the best ways of reaching this lucrative, and rapidly growing, demographic.

The report combines analysis of data from the detailed surveys, which were undertaken in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham, Southampton and Nottingham, with UKC Company’s unique understanding of marketing to Chinese consumers.

Ben Hui, author of the report and managing director of UKC Company said, ‘We decided to carry out the first in-depth research into the property preferences of Chinese international students to provide important market intelligence to student accommodation developers and landlords.

I was most surprised by the number of Chinese international students planning to buy property here in the UK and it shows there is a real opportunity for the wider property market. We hope our report is useful for the sector.’
